Nigerians In Shock As Asian Man Critically Analyses Egusi Soup And Fufu Plus Boiled Egg
An Asian man living in Switzerland was gifted a bowl of fufu and Egusi Soup by his neighbours, and after eating the meal, gave a rather interesting critique.
i went to pick up my toolbox from the upstairs neighbour and they wouldn’t let me leave without taking this box of food 😧 i’m so geeked lmao
update: I just tasted the soup? stew? it’s got fish bits in and it’s savoury, kinda bitter but not much that it’s unbalanced and it has a deep but mild heatiness. the texture kinda reminds me of stringy/scrambled egg curry? that white ball is actually a boiled egg btw 😭
I just had it for dinner so here’s an updated flavour description and review: There’s a very nice slight bitterness that I enjoy a lot, can anyone tell me what this is? I love bitter notes in food and my mouth is very sensitive to bitterness in a good way.the sauce is savoury, rich and has a seedy/nutty flavour from the melon seeds
it’s more heaty than the first taste and the heat builds up, not a sharp burning full mouth high heat like in Thai food but a chest and belly heavy heat that slowly builds up.
The fufu pairs excellently with the umami sauce. if I were to describe fufu it would be that it’s super mild, neutral, smooth and elastic and it agrees very much with my palate. I found a new carb to love 😩
the fufu is very filling so I managed to only finish one of two ball given to me with 3/4 of the stew haha.
I enjoyed the dried fish bits, underneath there were some stuff that looked like honeycomb meat pieces, it’s rubbery and not something I usually eat?? I didn’t know how to eat it at first but ended up liking it eventually. the sauce also had small chunks of beef that were tender.
as an Asian I enjoyed the hard boiled egg. 😭 it added a nice mildness to the stew and acted as a creaming agent.
Very good meal.
